Job Description
Our client is seeking a Manager of Market Research to design and manage primary market research studies in response to critical business issues by:
- Working collaboratively with internal partners to ensure business issues are translated into specific, measurable, research objectives
-Identify research design that is appropriate to address business issue
-Establish clear recruitment specifications and work with clients to ensure coverage and balance
- Challenge vendor research designs to ensure maximize strategic value
-Identify vendors, choose vendor, oversee vendor work, review final report and distribute vendor report and one page summary
-Interpret research findings and synthesize into actionable business insights
Strategic Insight
- Understand the connectivity between multiple primary research studies and provide the holistic learning about category, brand or innovation
- Articulate the market dynamics, customer needs attitudes and behavior around assigned brands and categories
- Work with analytic and modeling team, understand all the data available around the category, brand or innovation in order synthesizes information to address complex business questions
-Develop learning plans for larger, strategic projects establishing the background and context for the work
-Represent voice of customer (voc)
Research Planning, Budgeting and Compliance
-Identify knowledge gaps and create annual research plan for assigned brands
-Manage monthly budget reporting including accruals
-Display fiscal responsibility by ensuring the greatest value for the project and spending within budget
-Embrace, understand and follow all SOP to meet purchasing and OEC requirements
Manage People and Suppliers
-Provide direction to personnel and/or suppliers to foster effective project management by:
- Meet regularly to update current issues
- Provide tactical recommendations
- Ensure project understanding - ensure research projects stay on time and on budget
Research Process
Managing the research process by:
- Requesting multiple bids on larger projects when appropriate
- Maintaining organized project files to ensure they are easily located for future reference
- Ensuring invoices are processed in a timely fashion
- Updating the weekly status reports with current projects
- Budget between 1-2M of MR per year
Education & Experience
7+ years previous market research experience - both qualitative and quantitative. Has managed custom or primary marketing research.
Evidence of direct involvement with syndicated data analysis.
Some experience on client side or ability to demonstrate understanding of MR from objective setting to final results
A minimum of bachelor's degree - business, psychology, statistics; MBA preferred
Demonstrated ability to work in teams or matrix organization
Demonstrated experience managing a broad spectrum of research methodologies
